Some would venture to say that I am an artist
I'm not too sure what that means right now.

Most describe me as a bohemian wanderer.. and old soul

This is my art, my life, and my adventures.

A new year, and a new photo

Okay, so over the last year I heard a lot of people say to me…

“What happened to your photo a day thing?”

and

“I loved looking through you picture everyday! when are you going to start that up again?”

So, here you go. It’s a new year, and as far as I’m concerned it is my last full year in the U.S. therefore I’m doing my photo a day again, and we’ll see how this year goes. I’m going to do like the last year and try to keep from editing any of the pictures(cuz I’m not a big fan of that in the first place. hahaha)

here you go:

This would be the new addition to our family. Sylvester. SHE is a pain in the butt and loves to cuddle too much.. so I don’t see her running from us anytime soon… hahaha

Happy New Year. Hope this one is the best for you yet!

anyone wanna go on a road trip…?

To Canada..

I wanna visit Canada before I move to Korea, so we’ve got a year, friends..

Who’s going with me!?

Why don’t you ‘Talk to Me in Korean

.com’?

I decided last summer that I wanted to move to Korea, and teach (and possibly study) there.  Therefore, I knew I needed/wanted to learn the language as well.

With all my book reading and ‘google’ searching, I ran across this site:

TalktomeinKorean.com:

I first came across their videos to learn 한글(hangul); which can be found here.

  • These were especially helpful once I decided to take an actual in-class course at my university.

I then downloaded their iphone app. so I could listen to lessons before and after classes when I had nothing else to do.

You can download that here

The lessons seem to go hand-in-hand with whatever I’m learning in class. I would listen to a lesson on TTMIK and it would just be reinforced when I would go to Korean class the very next day! Which just goes to show that their lessons progress in a very natural way, and they don’t teach just any random thing or jump all over the board while teaching.

Oh! and did I forget to mention the best part about all the lessons…?? THEY’RE FREE!
Go here and you can download an MP3 and a PDF of each and every lesson straight to your 컴퓨터 (computer).. no charge! ^^

These lessons are great because it feels like you’re sitting in a coffee shop with a few of your friends teaching you Korean.

  • There’s no teacher/professor breathing down your neck.
  • No grades
  • No deadlines
  • Completely stress-free
  • and best of all; No disruptive classmates.
  • They also have fun little quizzes you can take

If you go to MyKoreanStore.com, you will find loads of great things at a cheap price too! They have:

  • Audio Books
  • Weekly Vocab. Lessons
  • Review Kits
  • and Natural talks (with translations)

Also, you can download and view samples of the products before you decide to purchase it! How great is that?

I recently got the Slang Expressions in Korean Volume 1; from My Korean Store

Which is great because I really wanted to be able to understand Korean fully, even the slang that is used among friends and online.

I posted one of the phrases (안습), to my facebook because I thought it was funny, and my friend (who is Korean and lives in Korea) said this:

oh hahahahaha this is funny!!”

Which tells you that they teach you things that are actually used in Korea, unlike some most textbooks.

So, if you want to learn Korean, and you haven’t already heard about Talk to Me in Korean, then you need to check them out!

I plan on using this site from now on and even after I move to South Korea! ^^

So, why don’t you Talk to Me in Korean, already?

Does anyone want to learn Korean, too!?

theoverambitiousguy:

I would love to go there and actually be able to understand people haha. Plus, I wouldn’t need subtitles for K-Dramas or songs. :P

same here. I just recently started learning it, and am loving it!

가자!

…from Canada to Korea!

I decided not to go to France next summer to study abroad. Mostly because of the cost, but secondly because I want to travel the world and I’ve been to France once, so now it’s tine to go somewhere I haven’t been. Like Canada. And once I graduate next December I plan on moving to Korea ASAP. I guess we’ll see where life takes me after that!

Being Black in Korea…

very inspiring video! I’ve wanted to travel the world my entire life, and I think the second biggest obstacle is my fear of what others think of me! (the first being my lack of money to get anywhere… ha)

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about doing my Grad degree in Korea (Maybe even teaching english over there for a year or so beforehand so I can get better aquatinted with the language and culture before jumping into school) But I get nervous thinking about how much I would stand out (something I’m definitely not used to in The States)

Granted I’m not Black.. I’m very pale white, blue eyes, and light brown hair..(and from what I’ve gathered people in Korea seem to be very open to whites coming into their country these days.) It’s just always nerve racking to know you will stand out somewhere.

But I also think it is very important for people to get over those types of fears(myself especially included) and get out there.. meet new people, and experience new things!
